Chinese firms cooperate on Laos power project

China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) signed a cooperation contract with China XD Group Corporation for construction of a power project in Laos in Beijing on June 1.
Lu Wenjun, chairman of China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC), hosted the signing ceremony. Xiao Ping, general manager of CHMC and Zhang Yaowu, general manager of Xi’an Electric Engineering Company Limited signed the contract.

The project in Laos will be undertaken by two corporations who will build a 500 KV power transmission and distribution project between Saravan province and Xekong province. Both sides will cooperate in construction, installation and testing.
After successful construction of a hydropower station in Cambodia, Sinomach is upgrading its business, having signed EPC turnkey projects worth $3.4 billion in Laos during the past three years.
China XD is one of the nation’s leading research and manufacturing enterprises for building equipment for complete electricity transmission and distribution, with its products and technologies now exported to more than 80 countries and regions.
Both sides show desire for further cooperation, and are determined to focus on the Belt and Road Initiative and introduce Chinese equipment and manufacturing to the world.
