Sinomach, a State-owned builder, witnesses its projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) sprinting ahead despite the COVID-19 pandemic as China advances green and inclusive development in its dual-circulation pattern.

The pandemic has propelled many countries to focus on infrastructure-building and investment in boosting global interconnectivity, which in turn has injected fresh vitality into the initiative.

The BRI has become a platform widely accepted and welcomed in the world, notably developing nations, thanks to its remarkable achievements in deepening connectivity in infrastructure building, standard setting and people-to-people exchanges.

The initiative is good for all as it aims to achieve sustainable development for involved countries and regions, strengthen their economies and enhance all-round cooperation.

IPPR delivers energy-saving hospital project in Cambodia

A 300-bed general hospital in Tboung Khmum, a province of Cambodia, was recently accepted by the Agency for International Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce, which was designed and managed by IPPR International Engineering Co Ltd (IPPR), a subsidiary of Sinomach.

It is an example of cooperation between China and Cambodia in the medical field and is bound to become a path to prosperity, improving local medical facilities and bringing the region's health care to a higher level.

The project includes the departments for emergency, outpatient and inpatient, medical laboratories, security and administration systems and living rooms as well as medical necessities.

To strive for sustainable development, IPPR has taken advantage of the local climate and designed the open space accounting for 40 percent of the total floor area, to bring out a low-energy hospital building whose energy consumption is 70 percent of its counterparts in China.

The project has also introduced the systems of hospital information, electronic medical records, picture achieving, communication and laboratory information, which aim to offer better medical services to local patients.

Performance certificate of CMEC Kostolac-B power plant phase II project signed

The Section II of Phase II of the Kostolac-B Power Plant Project, which aims to expand the coal mining capacity, has signed the performance certificate for the completed packages of belt conveyor system as well as spreader and power supply systems in Serbia. The Kostolac-B power plant is a major general contract project of Sinomach subsidiary China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).

Together with the performance certificate for the package of bucket wheel excavator signed on Sept 28, CMEC has completed the expansion project of Kostolac-B power plant, which is fully recognized by the Serbian side.

As the largest energy project in Serbia, the Kostolac-B power plant is a landmark project in China-Serbia cooperation. China's first 350 MW supercritical coal-fired unit exported to Central and Eastern Europe has been serving the plant.

The project has boosted the BRI cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe and paved the way for more Chinese enterprises to develop their businesses in the European markets, especially in the power sector.

SUMEC supports waterworks for COVID-19 isolation center in Cambodia

Sinomach affiliate SUMEC Complete Equipment & Engineering Co (SUMEC CEEC) has completed the laying of the water supply pipelines for a COVID-19 isolation and treatment center in Siem Reap, a province of Cambodia, to help the country prevent and control the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 treatment facility project is part of the Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project undertaken by SUMEC CEEC, which is the company's first overseas water treatment project.

The Siem Reap government decided to build a temporary isolation and treatment center to care for patients infected with COVID-19 as the local epidemic took a turn for the worse.

SUMEC CEEC thus prioritized the laying of the 12-kilometer DN600 ductile iron water pipelines so that people in isolation can drink safe and clean water.

In order to ensure successful operations, SUMEC CEEC mapped a detailed construction plan, including pipe laying, hydraulic testing and internal disinfection. The owner and supervisor said they are satisfied with the project's progress and water quality.

The Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project covers the laying of the 40-kilometer DN600-DN1100 millimeter ductile iron water pipeline, the building of the water intake pumping station, the trenching of the 2.5-kilometer open channel and the laying of the 10-kilometer medium-voltage power cables.

Since its inception in early 2020, 80 percent of the project has so far been completed. And the pipeline installation and pump station construction are drawing to a close, ahead of the project schedule.
